UCP of Central Arizona has been the beneficiary of Circle K’s community involvement for over twenty-five years. Locally and nationally Circle K has remained the largest corporate sponsor for the organization. In 2008, over $2.6 million was raised through in-store canister collections by Circle K personnel. At the current rate, 2009 collections are expected to exceed the 2008 collection totals.
UCP Executive Director Dan Rossi says, “UCP of Central Arizona feels so very fortunate to have a corporate partner like Circle K, particularly when considering the current budget climate of Arizona. Like many other nonprofit organizations, especially those providing disability services, we are facing very dramatic budget cuts. Without the community support we receive from donors and corporate supporters, such as Circle K, we would be forced to limit our services. The donations made by Circle K customers in every Circle K store throughout Arizona have allowed us to continue providing much needed therapies and services to individuals with disabilities and their families.”

The Circle K Tempe Music Festival is Arizona’s premier music festival. In 2009, the festival returned for its seventh year in Tempe Beach Park on Friday April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th. Because of the ongoing partnership with Circle K, UCP was a benefitting community partner of the festival.
As Arizona’s premier music festival, the event sold out both nights! Boasting three stages of entertainment featuring national, regional, and local acts along with activities and attractions for the whole family, the festival was a huge success. The event featured Kid Rock as Friday’s headliner with Cowboy Mouth and Tempe’s own Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers as supporting acts. Saturday’s lineup featured national acts 3 Doors Down and All American Rejects.
UCP received over $30,000 from event proceeds! In addition, Circle K coordinated an in-store promotion for the festival on behalf of UCP. Customers were able to donate a dollar at any Circle K for UCP and have an opportunity to win a Harley Davidson Sportster donated by Dr. Pepper and back stage passes to the music festival. The in-store promotion raised over $320,000 for UCP’s programs. Mr. Robert Kretchmer was the lucky winner of the Harley Davidson!
The 2010 festival is scheduled for April 9th and 10th. For more information on the Circle K Tempe Music Festival please contact the Development Department by email or at 602.943.5472.
